Our History

Our Story

Take a walk through the history of RVRA — from a small community idea to a vibrant centre of connection, learning, and change.

1998

Founded in Limavady

RVRA began as a grassroots group of residents coming together to support local needs and youth development. A small idea with a big heart — and a belief that communities thrive when they look after each other.

2006

Community House Opens

We opened our first permanent space — the Community House on Keady Way — providing meeting rooms, activity space, and a home for growing programmes and local groups.

2015

Community Hub Launched

We expanded to Catherine Street, opening the Community Hub for wider programming, inclusive events, and a new wave of community-led projects reaching more people than ever.

2018

DofE Operator Status

RVRA became an approved Duke of Edinburgh operator, opening the award up to young people across Limavady and supporting dozens through Bronze, Silver, and Gold achievements.

2020

Adapting During COVID-19

We stayed connected through remote services, doorstep drop-ins, and virtual youth programming — ensuring no one in our community felt alone during the most challenging period in recent memory.

2023

Marie's Beacon Fund Launched

In loving memory of Marie McGuinness, RVRA and the McGuinness family launched the Beacon Fund — offering community grants to grassroots organisations making a difference in Limavady.

Today

Still Growing, Still Listening

Now a trusted centre in Limavady, we continue to deliver inclusive, creative, and responsive community support for all ages. The work is never finished — and we wouldn't have it any other way.

It Wouldn't Have Been Possible Without Our Team

Behind every programme, event, and act of support is a passionate, dedicated team of people who care deeply about this community. They are the real story of RVRA.
